The men that attacked Painter may have acted out of youthful foolishness and impulsiveness, but at least they understand the difference between right and wrong. If you ask them now, they will admit that they acted in error. However, Picah has probably still not repented of his homosexuality. It is WRONG to have unnatural affection toward the same sex!
The three youths acted out of drunken stupidity, Painter acted out of well though out rebellion towards God and His divine ordinances, a lifestyle of homosexuality.
