And Nick Licata's solution is (other than complaining about it in his Urban Politics newsletter)?
Gosh, thanks Nick.

A business model that depends on reduced rents and public funding just has not produced meaningful results? Really?

And those sports in the other buildings, indoor/outdoor soccer for kids, what??? Call the cops, kids are playing soccer.

Yes, displaced artists suck. But no way in hell did anyone in their right mind, even an artist, think that this was permanent digs. As the artists down on Snoqualmie St/Airport way taught all us pioneer square vets long ago, the only artist space you can count on is one you own.

"The commercial spaces will run $20 to $30 a square foot on an annual basis, according to comparative listings in the area. "
... is a bit of a weasel word statement: there are no COMPARABLE spaces to a 1940's military base in the area. What other drafty, cracked concrete, rusty plumbing, roof leaking, EPA hazard, pigeon-infested commercial space are you comparing, apples-to-apples?

Besides, if the parks dept clears 30/sqft for the space, good for them! They face a budget shortfall: the alternative could be allowing condos to be built IN cal anderson... ;)

I think the government should make a specific plan for leasing first then open the business. And there should be a guaranteed service to ensure more investments.
