McKenna's capitulation in letting Goldy in is clearly a great victory for McKenna's position that Goldy should not be allowed into his press conferences.
@1: Capitulate all you want, madcrap, I'm STILL voting for Jay.
McKenna is a crappy lawyer, and should not be remotely considered a candidate for governor!
The Open Public Meetings Act (RCW 42.30) does not apply to news conferences held by individual officials. It only applies to meetings of multimember governing boards of state and local agencies. McKenna's agency is headed by an individual, and the OPMA does not apply to it at all. I'm not justifying in any way what was done to Goldy, but just want you to not use faulty legal reasoning in fighting it. -- Toby Nixon, President, Washington Coalition for Open Government
