Yay to these brave Seattle-ies from SAFE in Seattle! We salute you in Boston, where we share the same senseless bank practices!

Fascinating. Update: As I go toward publication of the short film, event moderator Ansel Herz reports in today's The Stranger that two days after the Phyllis Walsh foreclosure candidate forum all charges were dismissed against the Wells Fargo 5, including Jeremy Griffin, seen in the above Final Cut screen capture. This is not the first time that cameras have predicated dismissal of charges:

I can take you back to 2008 and my association with artist Milan Kohout after he was arrested (see Boston Phoenix story) in front of Bank of America for protesting and claiming "Nooses for Sale." He didn't have a vendor's license...... unbelievable but true. Kohout was instrumental in the Czech Velvet Revolution. Again, unbelievable but true. Everything you read at Mortgage Movies is true and verifiable, unlike your Chain of Title. I had pictures from a court hearing online but alas those seem to have disappeared.... but my how the chickens have come home to roost.

Ahhhh Sue AP were you there for Milan's arrest? Small World.

Watch Jeremy Griffin petition the Seattle City Councilors and Candidates for redress at a foreclosure forum the same day that charges were dismissed, coincidentally .... or not.

Ansel Herz, you produce superior reporting about local issues I care about. I hope your status gets elevated to a paid gig where you can still be a journalist without compromising your command of the English language (unlike the dweeb who tweets for the Globe and Mail, or the web editor for KPLU.org).

Shocked about the high % of underwater mortgages here... wasn't there a 15-20% run-up in property values over the last year? OTOH, a number of people I know who bought in late 2006 (I warned them) are finally seeing positive equity this year, but two of them have houses valued 21% lower than their original selling prices seven years earlier.

Every time Fag-at-large Ansel runs across someone poor it thinks it has found Cesar Chavez.

The city (and county) need to work towards increasing the availability of affordable housing within an easy commute to downtown. Aurora Ave. is an existing transit corridor with tons of vacant/neglected property. Start buying them up and put up apartment buildings. Increase the frequency of Rapidride D and electrify the route. Get rid of the blight and create new urban cores that are a 30 minute bus ride to work.

Needs more investigative journalism on the guys back story, you just cant listen to the protesters and go "Welp, thats good enough for me".

Occasionally Occupy Wall Street would protest for someone losing their house, only to find out its their second house and they were trying to flip it.

Thanks for all the great reporting on resistance in Seattle and the region!

Please wait...
