She simply never had the support in Seattle to staff all of those tables with local volunteers, and so they would have been imported from other parts of the country. If SA paid for their transport/lodging, then those costs would have needed to be reported to Seattle’s Office of Ethics and Elections, and the travel & lodging costs for more than 1-2 “volunteers” would have exceeded the legal limit for any given campaign. (I recall speaking at length with one of the table volunteers in 2019. He tried to tell me his ‘home’ on Beacon Hill was in District 3.)

Sawant earned her sobriquet, “Seattle’s Very Own Trump of the Left,” in part by sharing his utterly contemptuous attitude toward personally obeying laws. While she’s never come close to his level of crime, that’s simply due to her never having reached his level of opportunity.
