Wow, man, you are missing the whole point of pride. You have narrowly focused on the definition of that word.

Let me expand your horizons a bit, from Webster:
"A feeling of pleasure from one's own achievements, the achievements of those with whom one is associated..."

While the first part of the definition supports the cynical view you have just taken (not sure what is up with you lately), the second part goes to the heart of Pride - the achievements of our fellows sisters and brothers who you deride. We have had a tough and tumultuous 30 years; despite that, we made countless historic gains around the world. We are on the cusp of gay marriage in the U.S.! We have had marriage for 10 years in Canada. We act as a beacon of what can be overcome and achieved for the ones who get executed or thrown into prison in other countries.

Pride is more than the mere individualistic self indulgence that you take aim at. It is the collective achievements in the face of adversity. In other words, the “how” that you spoke to.

Odd, I did not know that internalized homophobia was contagious. Maybe you’re the one who needs to drop by the hospital.

Tom McKenna, a Proud person who just happens to be gay.

PS

I guess bad spelling and grammar e.g. "fellows" in my entry is evidence of a lack of being proud overall - I'm ok with that.
