Matt Cook

Our first editor, Matt left The Stranger in 1992 and joined the crew of a fishing vessel in Alaska. After having his hair torn from his scalp by a conveyor belt in the ship's freezer hold, he eventually found his way to Chicago. Cook is currently a bottle plant manager.

Danny Housman

Our second music editor, Danny left The Stranger to make films in New York. A search for his name on the Internet Movie Database yielded zero results.

Christine Wenc

The Stranger's third editor, Christine left the paper in 1993. She is now a graduate student at Harvard University, which retroactively makes Wenc the only Stranger editor with better than a 12th-grade education. (Dan Savage's degree from ITT Technical Institute doesn't count.)

Eric Fredericksen

After never turning a piece in on time during his seven-year tenure at The Stranger, Eric somehow landed a job at Architecture Magazine. He's still working on his final feature for this paper.

Jedediah Purdy

Jedediah was a news intern at The Stranger who, unbeknownst to us, was doing research for his anti-irony book, For Common Things. The Stranger is thanked in Jedediah's acknowledgments.

Emily Hall

When tracked down and asked what she'd been up to since she left The Stranger, Emily said, "You assholes! I still work here! I'm here, every day, five days a week! We're in the office right now!"

One of Al Gore's Daughters

We can't remember which one, but it's the one who didn't intern at Seattle Weekly.

Samantha Shapiro

A former news writer, Samantha is now living in Israel. Her writing appears in The New York Times Magazine (when will they stop pilfering from us?).

Everett True

The Stranger's most notorious music editor, Everett has just penned a book called Live Through This, chronicling his "discovery" of the Seattle music scene.

Dave Eggers

Our first managing editor, Dave left The Stranger in 1993 to move to San Francisco, where he started Might magazine. Since then, he has written the best-selling memoir A Heartbreaking Work of Staggering Genius and founded the literary journal McSweeney's. You can read his Stranger articles on our website at www.thestranger.com/eggers.

Wendy Shalit

Wendy was Dan Savage's research assistant for seven years. She left The Stranger in 1997. She went on to write the best-selling book A Return to Modesty.

Erin Franzman

After resigning as The Stranger's music editor, Erin returned to New York, where she has tried to start a weekly newspaper in Brooklyn.

Matthew Richter

The Stranger's longtime theater editor, Matt now runs Consolidated Works, an arts center. Matt still has a beard, literally and figuratively.

Brendan Fraser

A native of Seattle, Brendan spent two years toiling away as a Stranger delivery driver while attending Cornish College. Brendan recently obtained a restraining order against Adrian Ryan.

Emily White

Our fifth editor, Emily left to write a book entitled Fast Girls, which will be published in March.

Peri Pakroo

The Stranger's editor for exactly two months, Peri lives in New Mexico.

Ben Jacklet

A former news scribe, Ben left The Stranger and went to Africa. Now he's in Portland, where he writes for the Portland Tribune.

Eric Schlosser

The author of the book Fast Food Nation, Eric got his start as The Stranger's first copy editor in 1993 (and, yes, it took us two full years to hire a copy editor).

Mark Lindquist

Before he was named one of People magazine's Sexiest Bachelors, Mark used to write for us. In fact, many of us appear in his book Never Mind Nirvana. Mark also has a restraining order against Adrian Ryan.

Sarah Vowell

A regular contributor to National Public Radio's This American Life, Sarah was the originator of our famous "Stupid, Stupid Baby!" column. She now has two children of her own (no word on whether or not they're stupid--but they probably are) and lives with her husband on the New Jersey shore.

Andy Spletzer

The Stranger's longtime film editor, Andy still occasionally writes for us. He has also written a screenplay. Sadly, his alter ego, Blammo! the Surly Drunken Clown, has passed on.

Jonathan Franzen

Before he won a Pulitzer for his novel The Corrections, Jonathan spent a year and a half toiling away in The Stranger's classifieds department. Now he snubs us just like he snubbed Oprah.

S. P. Miskowski

The Stranger's fourth editor, S. P. now devotes her time to raising rare orchids and writing plays.

David Rakoff

A longtime Stranger writer, David left us in 1999 and is now a regular contributor to The New York Times and GQ--two fine publications that are able to pay him what he's worth.

Jason Finn

The author of our short-lived "Alcoholic Starfucker" column, Jason left The Stranger in 1995 to join every single band in Seattle. He is not openly homosexual.
