This race has got one nice old Democratic lady, Pat Thibaudeau, a state senator since 1995, challenged by another nice old lady, Linde Knighton, from the Green Party. Call it the battle of the dueling grannies--we did. Of the two, Thibaudeau is clearly the better choice, and without a doubt merits reelection. Her biggest priority is health care, and she helped push SCHIP, the children's health insurance program, as well as the prescription drug bill, through the last session (the latter passed in the senate, but failed in the house). Knighton touts that she's poor--she lives at the downtown YWCA--and likes Native Americans. But while the Glee Club has empty pockets and often squanders entire paychecks at tribal casinos, we can't endorse Knighton for the state senate.
