Jim Woodring Deserves Cake.

I love how square he looks. It contrasts nicely with his mindfuckingly insane art.
3
"Aside from the standard high-school requirements, Woodring has still never attended an art class." bus isn't that always how it is, with genius?

I think I recall an interview in which Jim W said he went through a phase where all he drew were lobsters... which, when you think about it, is really a brilliant way to learn to draw...

Literature the body of Written works produced in a particular language, country, or age.

@5: Sorry, grandpa. I forgot to head this up with a "Pow! Bang! Zoom! Comics aren't just for kids!"-style lead to remind you that the last decade has seen the widespread acceptance of comics as literature. But you keep having fun with your dictionary.

Not only "looks," Adrian. I AM a "friend of his from high school in Los Angeles (class of 1970)," though not the one of the quote above, who was just visiting Jim a couple of weeks ago. We've never gone more than a year or two in the last 40 without seeing each other, and I've finally come to the conclusion that Jim is one of the sanest people I know. We probably all have sanity and insanity on equal balance. Thank the Hindu gods that Jim channels his as he does. His heart is pure.

Oops, I meant "Joe."
