The Ancient, Awkward, Sometimes Awesome Ritual of Communal Spas

One of the few coed, clothing-optional public baths in the state. Monica Bennett

You don't mention the enforced bath treatments for mentally disturbed folks in the "good ole days." I guess they read St Hildegard, too!

Not to forget the Olympus Spas in Tacoma and Lynwood (women only) that are Korean run and a lot like the Bella Luna. There are a variety of temperature tubs, plus steam, jade room, salt room, etc. But their specialty is a full body scrub that exfoliates and moisturizes every inch of you, leaving your skin feeling like a baby's bum. Total indulgence!

Next time you're in Los Angeles, check out WiSpa on Wilshire in Koreatown. The same features (minus the "snow room") and reasonable prices as Bella Luna as well as the body scrubs @2 mentions. The place is enormous, spotless and stylish, and they issue you an electronic wristband that automatically locks and unlocks your locker.

After several visits in which I spent plenty of time in their version of the clay room (the floor is covered with a thick layer of terra cotta marbles) I am happy to report no troubles with "female disorders." Since I still can't manage to reliably cook a steak to the desired temperature, though, it seems to have had no effect on my gastronomic problems.

Yuan Spa in Bellevue has a co-ed, swimsuits-required hydrotherapy circuit. I love the steam room, it is very dark and the ceiling is covered with twinkly lights to look like stars.

After living in Amsterdam where the sauna was a weekly visit and clothing was taboo, I am appalled at the lack of proper facilities here. Any investors in Seattle that would like to make a small fortune and have a lot of fun??? Let's open a Dutch style sauna here.....

Don't forget the The Gated Sanctuary Spa in Snohomish a nice 40 minute drive out of town. Clothing optional and co-ed hydrotherapry circuit and sauna on Wednesday, Friday, and Sunday. Great freindly staff.

Also Goldmeyer Hotsprings and Scenic Hotsprings. Both real close.
