So, the story about the white supremacist suspected of killing two people with a knife, injuring another, and insulting a woman wearing a hijab on a light rail train in Portland? The story is as dead as the men stabbed to death. Mainstream media has moved on. And when I say moved on, I do not mean it's not being reported or 100% ignored. But that there is none of the obsession, depth, focus, details you would expect from a terrorist action committed by a person identified as a Muslim. They are treating this incident as a standard crime.

But my ultimate point is this: If the suspect of this act of terrorism is indeed the killer, then, yes, we should consider mental illness and have a deep and productive discussion about it. But we should apply the same kind consideration on killers who are not white and Christian. But that will never happen because we live in a racist society.
