"Public safety," my ass. The LR station is a good quarter-mile from the terminal (I know, since I make the Long March between them all the time), and the demonstrators weren't a rioting mob. They just didn't want any more people showing up for the demo.
If people are to give up their vehicles and rely on public transit, we need to ensure that they are not then forced to allow police to determine where and when they can assemble. Transit agency management should make if clear to their staff that the police have no authority to dictate whether public transit serves a particular location.
We experienced a coup by a rogue police department last night. Ordering transit shutdown, attacking protesters. It is a disgrace and the leadership of Port of Seattle Police should be immediately fired.
