The jealous ones are always the ones who cheat the most, in my experience. They're afraid their partner will do the same to them as they're doing to their partner, hence the controlling behaviour.

A couple of stretches. LW seems to be stretching to make "voyeuristic/exhibitionist tendencies", and Mr Savage may be stretching to turn LW's being perplexed by BF's double standard into a desire for an egalitarian relationship. "Do I really want an egalitarian relationship?" ought to be among the questions for LW to ask himself.

I might be missing something here but it's seems like the LW hasn't yet had and, if he plans to remain in the relationship, should have an actual conversation about how "open" their relationship will be, hard limits, etc.
