@fakedansavage Hi Dan,
Met a man on Tinder. We have been texting/talking for over a month almost daily. We share a lot of inside jokes, parenting advice, sexual banter, however we have not met in person. He lives 19 miles away but hasn't asked me to meet. Should I give up?

Well, that depends. If you were hoping to have an IRL, face-to-face hookup and/or relationship—and that's what most people on dating apps are looking for—then it might be time to give up on an IRL, face-to-face hookup and/or relationship with this particular person.

And I'm assuming you've asked to meet up and he's made excuses about why he can't, despite living so close by. If the dude from Tinder won't meet up with you, well, then there's something he hasn't told you.

Maybe it's something you would regard as disqualifying—he's married or not a he or both—or it's something he fears you would regard as disqualifying. Maybe he's older or disabled or looks nothing like his pictures and assumes you'll reject him.

So if you haven't already, ask him if he'd like to meet up. If he says no, or hems and haws, ask him if there's some reason he doesn't want to meet up. And if he never wants to meet up... you don't have to give up on him.

You just have to adjust your expectations. Instead of a potential partner, he could be a friend—although one you may never meet face-to-face. You could still chat, banter, etc., but without expectations/hopes. And if you don't have the bandwidth for an online-only buddy...

Then you should stop talking with him. No more investing your time in this thing if there's no chance he'll ever become your in-person/in-the-flesh boyfriend. But at the very least.. ask him to meet up before you ghost.
