Click on whatever is (in lieu of your avatar) just to the left of the magnifying glass in the page header.

@112, and here is where I turn into a total derp. Is this something best done on a PC instead of a phone? I'm not seeing a magnifying glass or anything immediately apparent as an "insert image here" option. And thank you!

@113 fox
"Is this something best done on a PC instead of a phone?"

Maybe. In the desktop version of the site, between the words "SUPPORT THE STRANGER" and the magnifying glass icon, there's a generic icon (until one has an avatar) Click on the generic icon, then select Account. Then click whatever it says under "Profile Picture" (mine says "Change your picture"). Click the "Web Address" tab then paste the web address I provided.

Mrs Fox @108, glad you were able to learn from our mistakes, er, experiences! As for that question, wow, that's food for thought. I guess my first question would be, why sex workers? For niche fantasies, to avoid the catching of feelings, to even the odds (given that she will probably be more able to find willing men than he willing women)? My second question would be budget, ha ha. Dating others incurs costs of dinners and potentially hotel rooms, but seeing sex workers is far more costly. If my spouse wanted to claim a chunk of the household budget for sex workers, that's something I would want to discuss. Just as if they wanted to take on any expensive new hobby. As a poly person, my initial reaction to the idea of a partner seeing sex workers is a negative one, because the idea is to build multiple -relationships-, but of course many people are coming at non-monogamy from the opposite perspective -- as an established couple that just wants a bit of variety -- so it makes more sense than I initially thought. Thanks for that! (And I've learned something from you!)

Curious @109, "they answered this badly, can we do better?" sounds great. There are advice columnists out there who are not as sex positive as Dan, I too have seen letters and thought "this person should have written to Dan." Maybe they didn't, but we can pretend they did.

@91 BiDanFan: I have gone back and reread some of the more recent comments from this week's SL comment thread. Is this like a mimicry game among SL commenters that you, vennominon, and others are devising? I'm game. :)

@99 vennominon: I'm intrigued by your idea of an additional new SL game. :)

@100 BiDanFan: WA-HOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!! Big congrats to BiDanFan on scoring this week's Big Hunsky @100 Award honors! Savor your well-deserved good fortune and bask in the glory. :)

117

BiDanFan, vennominon, curioius2 and others: So....to be clear, this newly proposed SL game involves a target and a fair and impartial judge? It sounds like fun. :)

griz @117
"a fair and impartial judge"

Yes, we've got Diogenes out looking for one.

FIANCE's boyfriend has been introducing him as his "friend" or "roommate" for SIX YEARS now (to a family aware of and sympathetic to gay men)...and FIANCE thinks they buy that? Nah, I'm pretty sure at least some of them know y'all are TOTALLY GAY FOR EACH OTHER.
No way do they not at least suspect. Might as well be open about it with the rest of his family so they can hold hands while chilling with the fam.

Jumping in a week late to say:

To endless, I get it. I’m right there with you. It may be irrationally self-limiting and trauma induced but it’s hardwired now and I can live with it and navigate through it without being a jerk.

To NCN, Yeah, I saw your throwaway line about mothers doing all the child raising and you can fuck right off with your unfair, dated sexist stereotypical generalization.

AG, I am sorry, but I find your numbers game annoying and irrelevant, but it hurts no one and brings many joy, so I just read past it.

I never noticed it scrub /all/ asterisks. But I started using footnotes like "(1)" because it let me use an asterisk inside a paragraph, but then below the paragraph it scrubbed the asterisk it lead to. However in some testing on an old thread, I noticed that (substituting here "Z" for the asterisk so that this will work), if I type

ZText
ZText

The output is

Text
Z Text

(In other words, a space is needed after the asterisk or the asterisk disappears.)(Geez, I think this is why I felt like it's not worth it to try to use asterisks.)

Here's another way I like to use them (again substituting here "Z" for the asterisk):

ZZZHeaderZZZ
ZZZ Header ZZZHeaderZZZ

I kid you not, those two lines output to:

Header
Z Header Z
