We’re nearing the end of the second straight disappointing blockbuster movie season in a row. Thankfully, Attack the Block—a low-budget British movie, fercrissakes—has finally saved us from the dregs. It is, hands down, the best summer movie of 2011—a funny, thrilling story of an alien invasion of the London projects and the band of teenaged hoodlums (they mug a defenseless lady in the first five minutes) who have to save the earth. Attack the Block is the rude kick in the pants that alien invasion movies have needed for a decade now. (See Movie Times)
