Any band that sends me a clip-on mustache as a promotional item wins points—a girl can use only so many buttons, stickers, and wrong-size T-shirts. Half Acre Day need not bribe me, though; the band won me over before giving me fake facial hair. The wistful and poppy song "Anemones" has breathy vocals and playful synthesizers, with bursts of bright guitar in the verse offset by slightly melancholy harmonies in the chorus. "BIOTA" takes a more "Main Street Electrical Parade" route with rhythmic synthesizers and drums riding front seat with the almost robotic vocals. "It happened in spring 2013/Some will stay here, some will disappear" goes the opening line. It's a silly pop song from the future.
