ANGIE'S TAVERN
4915 Rainier S, 722-7771

Because most of the bars in Columbia City are so expensive, and because the economy is now in a depression, I have turned (and returned) to ANGIE'S TAVERN for a cheap fix of the greatest substance ever known to mankind: alcohol. The bar is not exactly charming; it's cluttered, and the last time the furniture saw better days was many, many years ago. There is also a black and white video monitor behind the bar that is split into four parts: one watches the back of the bar; another, its entrance; another, the pool table area; and the last watches my back as I drink cheap beer among the laughter and chatter of middle-aged African Americans. Indeed, these are the good times. CHARLES MUDEDE
