HELL'S KITCHEN 3829 Sixth Ave, Tacoma, 759-6003 It's not that Seattle doesn't have any good rock venues, it's just that sometimes Hell's Kitchen in Tacoma books shows so bitchin', it's worth the 40-minute road trip south. Recently, I saw Kane Hodder and Pretty Girls Make Graves play a fun-as-hell all-ages show in the Crocodile-sized showroom, and in the near future, you can see acts like Deke Dickerson, These Arms Are Snakes, Post Stardom Depression, and Harkonen. Early shows are all ages, while the later ones are 21+. Tacoma locals usually fill the place each night, but "out-of-towners" like myself still feel at home among the friendly staff and showgoers. And it's in Tacoma, of all places. Who'da thunk it. MEGAN SELING
