Booking agent for the Crocodile.
EVENT: The Crocodile kicks off a month-long celebration of its 10th anniversary with a free show by the Dusty 45's, Mountain Con, and the Droo Church on Tues May 1.

How long have you been at the Crocodile?

"Almost nine years now. I've been booking for seven years."

Do you enjoy your job?

"I can honestly say that I do."

Is it true that all bookers are evil?

"I've heard that rumor, but I'm not."

What is the rudest band you ever worked with?

"The bands are usually pretty cool. It's the tour managers who are rude, but that's their job--to get the bands their crap."

What is the most demanding band you've ever worked with?

"When we had Yoko Ono, the tour manager arrived the night before demanding that we make the stage larger. So several employees made the trek to Eagle Hardware and we increased the stage for that show, like, three feet. I mean, she's a tiny lady. How much space could she possibly need?"

Do you think it benefited the show?

"If it made her happy, then the show was probably better for all those people who paid hard-earned cash to come see her play. But the thing is, she probably wouldn't have even noticed the stage's size."

How is competition for you guys in Seattle right now?

"It's about normal. It fluctuates, depending on the touring season and which clubs are open and closed. Everybody's going to bid on the good shows. It's just a matter of putting in the best offer."

What are some of the perks and benefits to being a booker?

"There are just so many, though not nearly as many as you probably get. Getting to hear all of the music and seeing free shows."

Do you get laid a lot more?

"I'm not answering that."

What's your favorite local band?

"There are several. I like the Prom, the Turn-Ons, Death Cab for Cutie, and of course there's the Supersuckers and Mudhoney."

What's your least favorite local band?

"Oh, you're evil. Bookers aren't evil, journalists are evil."

Come on, name one.

"Each band has a unique appeal. Sometimes it takes a few more beers to appreciate them, but that's okay."
