Jason Lajuenesse
Jason is the hard-working hottie responsible for revitalizing the live music calendar at Graceland. Since he took over booking duties last year, the once lame-ass venue has become distinctly kick-ass. Graceland celebrates its belated second-year anniversary on Tues Dec18 with help from the Briefs, New Town Animals, and DJ Cherry Canoe.

What've been the most memorable shows for you thus far? "Blonde Redhead, Les Savy Fav, the Shins, the Ex, Peaches, Mudhoney last January. Also the Murder City Devils' all-ages show last April, as it was one of the best shows I have ever seen them play. Arab Strap... and Twizted because they were the worst band I've ever had the misfortune of dealing with--and you can print that."

What did they do? "They were just dicks. They blew up our sound system and wouldn't pay for it, so the promoters had to pay for it. The singer got in a fight with some kid in front of the club. If every night was like that, I'd quit."

What's the most challenging aspect of booking? "Well, I think to be a decent booking agent, you have to continually research new music and try to stay on top of new releases. It's a challenge with so many bands and labels, but that's one of the best parts of the job as well, because it forces you to check out new music constantly."

What's your most irrational fear? "Well, I don't really have any irrational fears that come to mind."

What's your biggest unfulfilled fantasy that has nothing to do with sex or money? "I'd like to retire in Greece, own a little restaurant off the beach that serves good fish, good wine. A small place--a family-run kinda place. I'd work in the mornings, nap in the afternoon, and relax with a bottle of wine in the evening."
