Bushwick Book Club always delivers new music by great local musicians (Led to Sea, Bucket of Honey, and Tai Shan) based on a popular work of literature. But tonight’s inspiration isn’t just any old book, it’s the book that launched a million acid trips: Hunter S. Thompson’s Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas. Expect songs about bats, lizard-faced creatures in cop uniforms, and unpleasant combinations of drugs and firearms, but also expect to hear echoes of what made Thompson so damn good: Beneath all the cynicism and rage, there’s a raging inferno of hope.
