Northwest Film Forum’s annual celebration of the marriage of design and the moving image features everything from short-film showcases to a guided tour of split-screen techniques to documentaries about great designers and New York’s “motion graphics industry.” Tonight brings Taken by Storm: The Art of Storm Thorgerson and Hipgnosis, chronicling the life and work of the man who designed the cover of Dark Side of the Moon. Tomorrow brings Visions of Future Spaces in Films, wherein Stranger staffer Charles Mudede holds forth on the futuristic architecture presented in 2001, Blade Runner, Gattaca, and others.
