So what's your first day been like so far?

Well, really I've been doing this off and on for two years. I work as a lead cook down the road at the Alki Homestead, and I'd come here in my free time and on my days off to hang out. Now I fill in and take over shifts when they need an extra hand or two.

As a cook, I'm sure your tastes are discriminating, so what's great about this pizza joint?

The pizza here is New York—style and made using fresh, expensive ingredients. They don't skimp. Plus, the atmosphere is great—I mean, look at that patio—and there's a perfect view of the beach. Settle down with a bucket of beer, or two slices and soda for $5, and it's prime people watching.

The sand patio is luxurious. Is it where all the neighborhood cats come to poo?

Good question. No litter-box usage that I'm aware of.

Does it get lonely being a cook?

The stereotype is that we're all lonely and alcoholic, but I've got a wife at home and a 6-month-old daughter named Jasmine. We spend quality time together in the mornings, and whenever else I have free time.

What do you wish to accomplish in the food-service industry?

Six years ago, Peter Levine took me under his wing and taught me everything he knew. My goal is to one day be a top area chef, like him.
