Bars attract barflies, tanning salons attract rawhides... who does your bakery attract?
We get lots of groups and meetings here, especially in the summer because of our patio overlooking Green Lake. We've got book clubs, mountaineer hiking groups, and a mysterious Wednesday morning group that discusses who knows what. We also get a lot of high-school kids stopping by. There's plenty of room and it's comfy inside and out.
What's the best part of your job?
How laid-back it is. The owners are very cool and nice; they pretty much let me do my own thing. Before this, I worked at Starbucks, where I got in trouble for leaning on the counter—I'm short and I was trying to hear a customer's order. I quit within the week. This place is heaven. I can wear sweats to work.
What tasty vice do you recommend here?
The chocolate croissants. Everything is baked in-house every day, but the chocolate croissant with iced tea on the side is my weakness. We also serve soups, salads, sandwiches, and quiches.
Is anything here healthy?
No—but it's all tasty.
