THURSDAY 12/18

CHICAGO HOUSE-MUSIC DJ/PRODUCER CAJMERE IS STILL LEGENDARY

Whether he's using his Green Velvet handle or Cajmere, Chicago house icon Curtis Jones instigates dance-floor pandemonium. Tonight he'll be wearing his sweat-inducing Cajmere persona, which means more traditional-leaning house tracks. With nearly a quarter century of experience behind the decks and in the studio, Jones knows more about moving masses of bodies than the Chicago Transit Authority. He's also a staunch Christian, but his music's so infectious and galvanizing that it overcomes my bias against true believers. With Anna Langley and Nordic Soul. Q Nightclub, 9 pm, $12, 21+.

DISCO DROPPINGS VEERS INTO DEEP, DARK TECHNO/HOUSE WITH GOODWIN, GREYSPOT, AND WMD

Jimi Jaxon's Disco Droppings night invades Kremwerk once again with a big lineup of brainy electronic musicians and DJs. Headliner and analog-synth master GOODWIN comes up to Seattle (his former home) often to prove his mettle as one of the Northwest's finest form-tweaking house producers. GOODWIN'S fantastic Ramparts 12-inch on Debacle Records' MOTOR imprint mostly avoids the nostalgia-burdened tropes of many in this venerable genre and forges an extraordinarily textured and rhythmically eccentric brand of dance music. His live sets have been generating an increasing amount of heat, too. Seattle's WMD (not to be confused with another local WMD who creates chiptune music) creates stripped-down, remorseless techno that could fit well into a DJ set next to Sandwell District and British Murder Boys tracks. Greyspot is an emerging Seattle techno producer and remixer with a deft handle on tough, driving, and melodic techno. With Mascara and the visual art of Krissy Downing. Kremwerk, 8 pm, $5, 21+.

SATURDAY 12/20

A WILD NIGHT OF TECHNO WITH BRYAN ZENTZ, SKOOZBOT, AND RODDIMUS

Longtime Data Breaker favorite Bryan Zentz does that relentless, inhuman, pressure-cooker strain of techno as well as anyone in this country—and has done for nearly 20 years. Anyone who's a sucker for this sort of annihilating, high-impact/high-energy stuff needs to experience this Portland-based techno DJ/producer live. Skoozbot (Brian Connelly), who recently moved from the Midwest to Seattle, is an excellent addition to our city's techno infrastructure. His tracks for Mindshake Records and Richie Hawtin's Plus 8 label move with a lean, tensile swiftness, embellished with some of the best bleeps in the business. Roddimus (Seattle DJ/producer Jesse Farmer) has just released his debut EP, Synaptic Backfire (Mindshift), and it's a serious slice of equilibrium-disrupting 4 a.m. techno. His Sweatbox partner Ctrl_Alt_Dlt provides a lysergic remix that adds more layers of disorientation to the already psychedelic original. The Underground Resistance–affiliated Santiago Salazar hands in two remakes that are simply stellar elaborations. What a great debut record. With Ctrl_Alt_Dlt, Miss Shelrawka, and Louise Croff Blake. Kremwerk, 8 pm, $10 adv/$15 DOS, 21+. recommended
