Tug Inn

2216 SW Orchard St, 768-8852

Description: A West Seattle dive bar and pull-tab emporium.

The scene: A wide-ranging assortment of working-class clientele, from the bleary, hard-boiled types to the bleating wiseasses.

The decor: It remains delightfully trashy, even though the old brown carpeting, famously patched together with strips of festive red duct tape, has been replaced by a nondescript gray loop-pile one.

What $1 will get you: A Jell-O shot in lime, orange, and strawberry flavors.

What $1 won't get you: A Jell-O shot in celery, bubble gum, and maple syrup flavors. (These are rumored to have been actual Jell-O flavors that were discontinued, for one reason or another.)

Happy hours: Mon–Fri 3–6 pm.

Happy-hour drink specials: $.25 off all drinks.

Happy-hour food specials: None, but there are budget-friendly appetizers on the regular menu, such as $1.75 half basket of fries and $2.50 jalapeño pretzels.
