Higher Ground is a film directed by Vera Farmiga, a beautiful actress who is mostly known for her supporting role in a mediocre film, Up in the Air, by a mediocre director, Jason Reitman. Higher Ground, Farmiga’s directorial debut, has two things that Reitman’s films lack: real insights about the human condition and great (if not brilliant) comic timing and writing. The film is about the life of a woman, played by Farmiga, who falls in and out of love with the creator of the universe, God. One day she believes in Him; one day she does not. One day the Christian songs have so much meaning; one day they don’t have any meaning, it just becomes music to her. What a lovely film. (See Movie Times)
