Every week, shows happen and I hear people say, "Why didn't anybody tell me about this?" God knows I don't get to 'em all, but right here's a good place to start. Just remember, if you see me around, don't ask me—as soon as I write about it, I fuckin' forget it. So then:

Yelawolf's hirsute homeboy Rittz, the "White Jesus" (no Kanye) of Strange Music, returns to Seattle—at Nectar on November 13—with LA's Snow tha Product, Jarren Benton, and your host Neema (with DJ Gerze); special guests AD, Dirtay, and Jay Barz pad the bill out with perhaps more raps than you know what to do with. Speaking of, what with rap becoming such a formulaic joke, it's only right that novelty crews like the Lonely Island can spoof it to great success and acclaim—and as long as the shit's actually, certifiably, like, non–Dane Cook funny, I'm all for it. Turquoise Jeep—not just a bunch of dicks, but a label and crew à la some weirdo-world Bad Boy Records—totally fit that bill, and they will be back at the Crocodile (with ass-kicking local sista act NighTraiN) on November 14.

RA Scion has a history of album-length collaborations with producers like Sabzi (Common Market), MTK (Victor Shade), and Todd Sykes (uh, RA Scion and Todd Sykes)—his latest, and perhaps boldest, sonic move is his newest album (The Sickle and the Sword) with New York–based producer Rodney Hazard. Hazard's gauzy, vaporous cloud-work suits the spirituality in RA's devotional bars. The album release show (November 14 at Neumos) features the return of Idol's Blake Lewis, the Tempers, Romaro Franceswa, and Mike Giacolino, with DJ Chocolate Chuck and hosts Tilson and Barfly—whoa! Kung Foo Grip are still Growing Up in the Future, still some of the scene's livest young-lifes doin' it, and November 15 at the Vera Project, they get it in with Keyboard Kid.

Latyrx, the Staxx Brothers, and Portland trailblazer Tope all do the Crocodile on November 16, the returned-to-us Deltron 3030 (aka Del the Funkee Homosapien and Dan the Automator) and the mad genius Kid Koala fall through the Showbox at the Market on November 17, Odd Futurians Mellowhigh (being the combo of MellowHype's Left Brain and Hodgy Beats with Domo Genesis) join Mooress Gift Uh Gab at Neumos on November 18, and lastly, the chairman of the Chicago Department of Kicking Knowledge, Mr. Lupe Fiasco, hits the Showbox Sodo on November 19.

Also, welcome to our new progressive mayor, no relation to the last progressive mayor. Progress will continue to manifest in the form of higher rents, higher condos, more hostile police, and more hostile police-like people in general. From its streets to its schools, Seattle's really going places—without us. And just like before, before that, and the time before that—when we're finally gone, they'll remember to forget we were ever here. Until they find themselves surrounded. recommended
