Callin' out to all area crews--Lyrics Born is doing his thing-thing at Chop Suey April 28 with two of the PDX's bestest: Sirens Echo and Lifesavas' fam, Libretto. Speakin' of ol' LB, I just received his Same !@#$ Different Day LP, basically a remix album of his …Later That Day joint; it's a dope reimagining of the original and definitely worth copping if only for the "Callin' Out" remix featuring Casual and E-40.

That same evening, you can also ride out to the Premier for Unexpected Arrival's album release party for his upcoming My Life for Sale LP… The shindig is hosted by no less than UA's past collaborator Twista, and also features appearances from Wingo of ATL (that's Atlanta) crooners Jagged Edge and Da Band's Dylan (cue Dave Chappelle skit), as well as performances from Tru ID, Sonny Bonoho, and Crytical. This event is all ages, people, so don't miss it, nor the album, which among other things boasts a cameo from Kurupt. Unexpected (AKA Neema Khorrami) has been packing houses and pumping out radio-friendly club knocks for the last couple of years, like his "Take Control (RMX)" that netted him KUBE Artist of the Year in '03. Anticipate him and the rest of the artists on Undercaste to drop stuff soon (Phenomenal, holla).

"They come to the ghetto to murder rate it/when they need to see what it is that's makin' they fuckin' kids impersonate it"… On the mixtape front, I recommend Juelz Santana's Back Like Cooked Crack 2 (if you can get with idiosyncratic Dip Set absurdity) and Saigon's Abandoned Nation… for real, man, I can't say enough about this cat. Sai's steez is gutter NYC, yet imbued with insight few bring to the game these days, a great mix of political and street. Just Blaze, who is making the craziest shit these days, handles all production, so take that. Also, I gotta say Beanie Sigel's spankin' new The B.Coming LP is stellar; sure, it's got that über-slick Roc-A-Fella sound, and a few of these tracks came out previously; nonetheless, this is powerful music, Mack's South Philly gangsta as raw and as unflinching as ever. My favorite cut, "Bread and Butter," shows Beanie's emotional intensity as he spits bile at a treacherous ex--and, goddamn it, it features Grand Puba and Sadat X. 'Nuff said.

But back to the 28th: That night, Mr. Lucky's is throwing the "Phat Farm/Baby Farm Party Part 3" hosted by the legendary Russell "Rush" Simmons, his brother, Run-DMC's Rev. Run (who incidentally was my pick for the papacy), and the World's Greatest Entertainer, Doug E Fresh… besides the star-studdedness of it all, they're gonna be giving away kicks and gear to the first 200 heads who come through the door. Better get there early.

Looks like the War Room is trotting out a new Sunday hiphop night--dubbed "CHI," it features "hiphop and party cuts" ably spun by DJ Tone. I'ma be there to request "Fuck tha Police"--you feel me?
