Greetings to all sexy people (and that's all of you if you got your confidence up, you see). You will want to be up on that new Dyme Def shit, so all dimes definitely should check that "Do Something" video (from the forthcoming Sextape). Directed by L.A.'s legendary Soul Assassin/Joker Brand impresario Estevan Oriol, it also features (among others) local-gal-turned-porn-superstar Gianna Michaels. You had me at hello, y'all.

People, on February 18 you got Swollen Members rocking a FREE show at Neumos, which is bound to bring 'em out, bring 'em out. Humboldt's rumored weed enthusiasts Potluck and the NW's reigning ginger rapper since Red Head Steve, Jay Barz, will be opening up on 'em as well. Swollen's Prevail and Mad Child have gone from apologetic (no really, they apologized onstage for 2003's reviled, thought-to-be crossover Heavy) to on-swole with their newest gangstalicious LP, Armed to the Teeth; their new blood (Battle Axe Warrior Tre Nyce); and their alleged motor-club affiliations. Their next LP, Beautiful Death Machine, is said to be produced by the Dust Brothers—yes, they of Paul's Boutique, Guero, and Fight Club fame. Heavy.

That same night, there's a new 18+ dance party at Chop Suey started by Darwin of Out for Stardom and Recess of Shameless called Say What!? (their punctuation, not mine). Mash Hall and Sap'N play live. Sorry for the self-promo, people.

I wish I had enough space to wax truly poetic about one of the greatest, grittiest, most soul-and-truth-ful hiphop groups of all time, Goodie Mob, and how they've thankfully reunited after a semiacrimonious split and are now coming to town. But I don't—there's a gang of great shit going on this week. So I will have to be content telling you that the motherfucking MobKhujo, T-Mo, Big Gipp, and Cee-Lo Green, dammit—are coming to Neumos on February 24 (Helladope and Federal Way's supertalented MC/producer Q Dot open up). It's high time you appreciated the import and influence of these legends and the Dungeon Fam in general—especially these days, when young acts like B.o.B. and Yelawolf are, for better or for worse, running their playbook like crazy. If you're not knowing, tell no one—just do the math on the first two classic albums, Soul Food and Still Standing; then, like the slaves who built this goddamned nation (and whose spirit spoke stirringly through those same albums), give up in full your love, sweat, and wages.

The next evening is major, too—at Chop Suey it's the MADK reunion (is DJ Scene gonna be in the house?), and it's MADK czar/206 Zulu founder Khazm's birthday! Not to mention it's also the CD-release party for the physical, official debut of Asun aka Suntonio Bandanaz's Who Is Suntonio Bandanaz? and the 10th anniversary of the documentary Enter the Madness, which will be screened as well. MADK reps DJs Gumbeaux and Dev from Above will be throwing down as well. Peace to the whole MAD Krew, especially my brother Khazm, whom I've known since before I had facial hair. Take a look at me, man—that was a long-ass time ago. recommended
