ZION'S GATE GRAND OPENING PARTY

It's time to get irie, mon! Zion's Gate is celebrating the opening of its Vancouver, BC location by bringing down some of BC's finest... DJs. Tonight Jay Tripwire, the lovely Nancy Kyd, and Manoj & Professor Stone will be playing dub-house, and DJ Magneto, Zion 12, and Rama will be holdin' it down in the raga room. I-Spy, 1921 Fifth Ave, 374-9492, 7 pm-2 am, 21+, $7.

FRIDAY OCTOBER 25

SWIRL UNDERGROUND

Aristocrat's keeps a low profile, but the venue has consistently supported the local electronic scene. They're trying to keep it even more real by offering up their space after hours--and in my book, the best time to dance is always after 3:00 a.m.! Tonight Terry Jasinto, Nobel, Kipp, BPM, and Danny Fortunado spin deep and progressive house. Aristocrat's, 220 Fourth Ave S, 748-9779, 9 pm-5 am, 21+, $8.

SATURDAY OCTOBER 26

HOME COOKIN'

Yup, it's that time of the month again. Tonight Home Cookin' brings in Jordan from Uniting Souls L.A., as well as hometown clique and just plain Good Samaritans John Lee, Wesley Holmes, and Jeromy Nail. Baltic Room, 1207 Pine St, 625-4444, 9 pm-2 am, 21+, $10.

SUNDAY OCTOBER 27

CAPITOL CLUB

This spot can be a little stuffy, but it's still a popular Capitol Hill location, especially if you want to rock your black mock turtleneck or your female friends want to sport those long-ass sweater things that kind of look like robes. Tonight Michael Antonio plays jazz and soul records. Capitol Club, 414 E Pine St, 325-2149, 9 pm-2 am, 21+, free.

TUESDAY OCTOBER 29

SIGNER

If you feel like thinkin' (which I try do once a month) rather than dancin', this may be the show for you. Signer's music lies somewhere in between indie rock and experimental electronic, and comes out sounding like a movie score. Also on the bill is laptop glitch technician Bobby Karate. Crocodile, 2200 Second Ave, 441-5611, 9 pm-2 am, 18+, $7.

WEDNESDAY OCTOBER 30

MAMA'S HOUSE

The biggest and gayest dance party in all the land... land... land! Mama's House is still rockin' at the "Neigh'-Neigh'" and is truly the only night where gays, hipsters, college students, and your relatives from Montana can all freak to a drag comedy show and dance to Top 40 dance music under one roof. Neighbors, 1509 Broadway, 324-5358, 9 pm-2 am, 21+, $5.
