FRIDAY MAY 9

JENÖ

San Francisco's Wicked crew consists mainly of British expatriates and is probably the best-known house collective around. Jenö's deep tribal sound went hand in hand with the SF scene in the '90s, helping to evolve and define the presence of West Coast house. With Wesley Holmes and Barrett Paul. Chop Suey, 1325 E Madison St, 324-8000, 9 pm-2 am, 21+, $10.

SATURDAY MAY 10

KYOTO JAZZ MASSIVE

Japan's Kyoto Jazz Massive have been making waves all over the world with their explorations of jazz fused with downtempo, house, techno, and broken beat. They are a modern testament to the fact that the jazz scene never died; it's just taken on contemporary incarnations. With J-Justice and Michael Antonia. Baltic Room, 1207 Pine St, 625-4444, 9 pm-2 am, 21+, $10.

SATURATE: THE UTILITY POLE PROJECT

Artist Diana Falchuk has created a series of engaging collages using cross sections of City Light utility poles. Tonight the Alibi Room is turned into one large installment, with the help of Jeromy Nail, Rama, Miss Kick, and Israel playing broken beats, house, 2-step and downtempo. Alibi Room, 1413 Post Alley, 623-3180, 7 pm-2 am, 21+, $3.

THOMAS WHITE OF NATURAL RHYTHM

Thomas White is one half of California's house duo Natural Rhythm. They truly live up to their name by being in full command of their rhythmic and dynamic approach to the records they produce. With Phillip Eno and Eric Andrew. Re-bar, 1114 Howell St, 233-9873, 9:30 pm-2 am, 21+, $10.

TUESDAY MAY 13

DJ STORM

It was Kemistry (RIP) and Storm who brought Goldie to see Grooverider and Fabio at Rage back in '92--which sent Goldie on his merry drum 'n' bass way. The pair also worked with Goldie in establishing the Metalheadz label, and they set the precedent for future female DJs all over the world. Baltic Room, 1207 Pine St, 625-4444, 9 pm-2 am, 21+, $5.

WEDNESDAY MAY 14

RIGHT: JONE'NE

Jone'ne (AKA Johnny Phelps) cofounded San Francisco's Panhandle Records, helped throw the legendary Stompy parties, and now runs his own label, SafeinSound, creating house tracks that sound like they were severely molested by a computer... in the right way! This is also a release party for Jone'ne's release on the local Market House Meats label, a startup that I lend a hand in as well. With Doug and Phillip Eno. Noc Noc, 1516 Second Ave, 233-1333, 9 pm-2 am, 21+, $7.
