FRIDAY OCTOBER 17

MR. SCRUFF, DJ SPINNA

These eclectic DJs are touring behind Verve's successful Remixed2 comp of revamped jazz classics. As you might infer from Mr. Scruff's 1999 album title Keep It Unreal, this Brit DJ/producer cares little for authenticity. He'd rather mix up styles, sample the oddest oddities from an obscenely huge record collection, and keep listeners guessing, grinning, and grinding on the dance floor. Jigmastas' DJ Spinna--who's worked with hiphop heavies like Mos Def, Guru, and Eminem--also gets diverse on the wheels, showing keen knowledge of downtempo house, broken beat, and rare groove. With MissKick. Chop Suey, 1325 E Madison St, 324-8000, 9 pm-2 am, 21+, $10 adv.

SATURDAY OCTOBER 18

DJ ME DJ YOU

L.A. wiseguys Ross Harris and Craig Borrell (who formerly tweaked minds in Sukia) revel in kitsch analog-synth emissions and playful sampladelia, like Beck before he went glum. DJ Me DJ You's latest disc, Can You See the Music, is another high-spirited troll through pop culture's goofily arcane detritus. Headliners go on at 10 pm, Seattle duo Siamese at midnight. ToST, 513 N 36th St, 547-0240, 9 pm-2 am, 21+, $7.

MONDAY OCTOBER 20

KID KOALA

This Montreal turntablist's new album, Some of My Best Friends Are DJs, furthers his fascination with amusing spoken-word snippets and offbeat Technics tricks. As he did on 2000's funnybone-funk opus Carpal Tunnel Syndrome, Kid Koala contours his cuddly cuts for the ADD set; dude's got wicked deck skills, but he's not wanky about it. This show's dubbed "Short Attention Span Theater," so you'd best get there early and be alert. With DJ P-Love, DJ Jester, and Lederhosen Lucil; animation by Monkmus. Showbox, 1426 First Ave, 628-3151, 8 pm, 21+, $15 adv, $17.

WEDNESDAY OCTOBER 22

PEACHES, ELECTROCUTE

Everybody's favorite female Canadian Jewish guttermouth promotes her empty, blustering Fatherfucker album tonight. Lacking the shock value and sonic freshness of her 2000 debut, The Teaches of Peaches, Fatherfucker rehashes its predecessor's lurid electro and XXX scenarios while bringing more raunch 'n' roll to the mix--though why anyone needs her watered-down interpretations of Iggy and Nashville Pussy is beyond me. Still, Peaches sounds like Kraftwerk compared to simpletons Electrocute. Graceland, 109 Eastlake Ave E, 262-0482, 8 pm, all ages, $15 adv, $18
