THURSDAY OCTOBER 7

LIBRARY SCIENCE

You can tell Library Science love and respect dub, but realize they'll never please genre purists, so they feel no pressure to try. Their debut disc, High Life Honey (Happi Tyme), reveals a band enthralled with dub's use of reverb, melodica, and blunted rhythms. You can tell this music's American-made (probably under the use of ganja), exuding a playful, experimental aura that's perfectly in line with dub's original spirit. I bet Lee Perry would smoke down with these dudes. The Hideaway, 2219 Fourth Ave, 441-0464, 9 pm-2 am, 21+, $6.

NAKED SUSHI 2.0

The folks who hosted GeT SAKe'D! at Bonzai have moved operations to Contour. The concept: Patrons eat tasty sushi off nude women while some of Seattle's finest house-music DJs (Jacob London, Mark M, Cali Mike, and Danny Massure) aid your digestion and libido with their impeccable selections. Sushi served at midnight. Contour, 807 First Ave, 447-7704, 9 pm-2 am, 21+, $10, ladies free until 11 pm.

SANDRA COLLINS, JIMMY VAN M

Shiny shirts; tight, low-riding black slacks; lots of exposed back flesh and midriffs; much public groping; fat wallets; fab décor; bombastic trance; monumental progressive house; a little funky-breaks action. (Sniff.) I think somebody may get laid here tonight. Element, 332 Fifth Ave N, 441-7479, 9 pm-3 am, 21+, $15.

SATURDAY OCTOBER 9

XAXIS WYE

Xaxis Wye (Seattle producer Jeff Mueller, who's performed with Sonicabal, Sil2k Ensemble, Entropic Advance, and many others) forges deeply hypnotic, amorphously tribal soundscapes that approach the lofty level of British trance masters Zoviet France and Rapoon. His new CD, forMes, is a creepy rendering of alchemical natural processes and microbial decay. He promises a "soothing ambient" set for tonight's Textures series. Living:Room, 4301 Fremont Ave, 8 pm-10 pm, 21+, $3.
