FRIDAY FEBRUARY 18

KASKADE, DJ COLETTE

The Sounds of Om Tour rolls into Seattle tonight, and any chance to see DJ Colette is welcome. Like DJ Heather, she spins a mean set of stompin', soulful house and adds her own mezzo-soprano vocals, to boot. Peep Colette's album of her own productions, Hypnotized, which drops in May. Om Records is exceedingly proud that popular lite-house producer Kaskade's single "Steppin' Out" is running in a national Budweiser TV ad. Shouldn't this shameful factoid have remained within Om office space? With Wesley Holmes. Chop Suey, 1325 E Madison St, 324-8000, 9 pm-2 am, 21+, $15 adv.

DJ BANEL

All the way from Denmark comes DJ Banel to spin "deep tribal progressive" and trance. The Iboga Records boss apparently rules this terrain, though I've never seen his name before. My bad. Banel's joined by Osiris Indriya, BlueTech, Rezin, Waater, and Lara. If you don't get your psychedelic groove on and have your chakras aligned at this Iosis-organized event, you can poke out my third eye. JEM Studios, 6004 12th Ave S, 763-5830, 9 pm-2 am, all ages, $15 adv. SATURDAY FEBRUARY 19

GARTH, J-SUN, GRAHM JONES

Among other things, the West Coast is famous for deep, soulful, laid-back house music to which reclining poolside is as apropos as lukewarm-footing it on the dance floor. DJ Garth is another peace-lovin' vibe merchant for this ethos, as his latest mix CD, Revolutions in Sound, proves in spades… and in clubs. Also, anybody who works Rhythm & Sound and A Guy Called Gerald into his sets--as Garth did in 2000's San Francisco Sessions Vol. 3 mix--deserves major props. Baltic Room, 1207 E Pine St, 625-4444, 9 pm-2 am, 21+, $7 before 11 pm, $10 after.

GLOBALISTA FINALE

Worldbeat guru Darek Mazzone wraps up his stint at Mirabeau with this blowout featuring most of the DJs and musicians who've performed there during its run. Participants include Mazzone himself, DJ Advent, Nasir Rasheed, Chris Stromquist of Kultur Shock, Tom Armstrong of Quasi Nada on Latin percussion, and Deepayan Acharjya on dhol and tabla. After this gig, Mazzone plans to do some traveling, then return with an adventurous, world-fusion night at another venue. Stay tuned. Mirabeau Room, 529 Queen Anne Ave N, 217-0654, 9 pm-2 am, 21+, $10.
