THURSDAY FEBRUARY 24

BOOKMOBILE, HAKEA

Two of Seattle's preeminent electronic duos duel tonight in the Jewelbox's cozy confines. Bookmobile (Ben Torrence and Victor Couto) and Hakea (Matts Carthum and Turpin) are doing the thankless work of rejuvenating IDM (Intelligent Digital Music) from its decrepit state. They understand IDM is so nebulous a genre, it can encompass vast musical territory. This they do with casual brilliance. Bookmobile lean more toward minimalism, funk, and atomized guitarscapes while Hakea bust more old-school, synth-wizard moves, but it all sounds as fresh as a G5. Hakea's last live outing sounded like Coil gone hard techno, an idea whose time has come. Rendezvous' Jewelbox Theater, 2320 Second Ave, 10 pm-2 am, $5, 21+.

FRIDAY FEBRUARY 25

DJ CRAZE, DJ A-TRAK, DV ONE

There will be more ballcapped, quick-reflexed, baggy-trousered mofos per square foot in Lo_Fi tonight than anywhere else in the city as turntablists supreme Craze and A-Trak cut, crossfade, pitchshift, beat-juggle, and scratch their nuts--all on the beat while scoping out the joint for hotties. These guys are true artists. Both Craze and Montreal's A-Trak (1997 DMC winner) appeared on the Allies' D-Day EP (Asphodel, 2000), a treasure trove of funkin' decknology. Get there early for prime stage-positioning, as these types of gigs are as much about spectacle as sound. Lo_Fi Performance Gallery, 429B Eastlake Ave, www.lofiseattle.org, 9 pm-2 am, $18, 21+.

BREAKBEAT CHAOS

The main event of this Bass Invaderz Tour is the tag-team DJ set with Dieselboy and DJ Fresh of Bad Company (not the classic-rock behemoth). They're sure to bring the drum 'n' bass malevolence so apropos for our new Dark Ages. With MC J Messinian, Zacharia, Slantooth, DJ Flave, Side Step & Joe Nasty, and others. Catwalk, 172 S Washington St, 622-1863, 9 pm-5 am, $17/$20, all ages.

SUNDAY FEBRUARY 27

NO TOMORROW

No Tomorrow has potential to become the hot, throbbing heart for experimental, IDM, noise, glitch, and ambient in Seattle. The weekly's agenda calls for "apocalyptic rhythms and hypnagogic visuals." Tonight C/A/T performs live with DJ sets by Tawney, Neuroshard, and Oblique, and visuals by Lowrez. Baltic Room, 1207 E Pine St, 625-4444, 9 pm-2 am, $5, 21+.
