THURSDAY JUNE 2

VOICE INDUSTRIE

Edmonton-based duo Voice Industrie's influences are obvious: Depeche Mode singer Dave Gahan and UK stadium electronica act Underworld. If you fancy those artists, then you'll probably love Voice Industrie's fourth album, 2003's Power, which features epic techno-trance maneuvers with appropriately grandiose melodies and tensely majestic rhythms. I wonder how Voice Industrie's vastly spacious music will fit within the Vogue's tight confines... Vogue, 1516 11th Ave, 324-5778, 9 pm-2 am, $10, 21+.

FRIDAY JUNE 3

SPECS ONE, LUX, HOLY SONS

Seattle MC/beatmaker Specs One combines Daedelus's warped-Muzak production wizardry with Guru of Gang Starr's understatedly cool braggadocio. Specs has a thousand ways to tell you he's doper than you'll ever be, with the kind of unconventional funk to prove his boasts aren't idle. Don't be surprised if some enterprising indie like Mush or Rhymesayers snaps him up soonish. CHAC Lower Level, 1621 12th Ave, 388-0521, 10 pm-2 am, $5, 21+.

SATURDAY JUNE 4

MOBIUS BAND

Mobius Band are a New England trio whose mild blend of electronic pop and post-rock may remind you of another Ghostly International outfit (Midwest Product), except Mobius exude more pop savvy and a sulkier melancholy streak. Working that sullen British angle gives Mobius a better chance of capturing the pallid, Anglophiliac youth demo that Interpol have been mesmerizing. And Mobius's debut EP for Ghostly, City Vs Country, displays a soft-centered romanticism and frownsome tunefulness that will likely catch radio programmers' ears. With Some by Sea and Verona. Paradox, 1401 NW Leary Way, www.theparadox.org, 8 pm, $7, all ages.

APHRODITE

British drum 'n' bass vet Aphrodite (AKA Gavin King) has more than a decade of party-rocking experience and enough exclusive dubplates to trigger envy in any DJ. Aphrodite is especially skilled at blending jungle with hiphop, but his jump-up D&B cuts are what really get dancers hyperventilating. The man has an impeccable sense of funkiness, as his work with rappers like Big Daddy Kane and Schoolly D attests. Like C+C Music Factory, Aphrodite's gonna make you sweat. With Zacharia, Rob Noble, Roddimus, Aaron Simpson, Flave, Ryle and Chronus. Premier, 1700 First Ave, 9 pm-3 am, $15 DOS, all ages/21+ bar.
