Date: Fri Nov 26 Place: Near Woodland Park Zoo

We sneak around the back of the house to find this classy post-Thanksgiving cocktail party. It's quiet and distinguished and in no way disturbs the neighbors. When we push open the front door, a hallway confronts us, and at the end are two children sitting on a bed. "Is there a party here?" we ask, thinking we have the wrong place. "Right this way," a confident 8-year-old replies. We later find out that this young girl once met Hilary Duff, and has pictures to prove it. As we walk into the kitchen, we realize that we are the youngest people here, apart from a few children of attendees. The walls are filled with paintings and sculptures are planted around the house. We explore the property and find an expansive (but dead, for now) garden in the backyard. We walk around and meet people, including one woman with a young child who takes us under her wing and becomes our party guide. "Drinks are over here, and there are Thanksgiving leftovers over in that corner if you are hungry," she offers. "Also, here are some T-shirts [the party-thrower] made for everyone! Help yourselves!" T-shirts! Wow! We rummage through the rad hand-screen-printed thrift-store shirts and find some to suit our sizes and tastes. Our most positive party crashing experience to date.
