Phone Tap/Pill Hill/Wed Sept 3/8:35 am: Officer Lewis writes: "Upon arrival at Virginia Mason Hospital, I contacted one of the hospital's telecommunications workers who stated that while working on the third floor of the Buck Pavilion, he noticed a phone with a bulge in the casings. So he opened it up to take a look at it. Once open, he found a crude transmittal device that had been put together using Panasonic 'C' batteries, wires, and the inner pieces of a cell phone. With this device someone could listen in on a conversation being had on the telephone from another location. The phone that contained this device was located in the gastrointestinal recovery unit that occupies the third floor of the Buck Pavilion. This area is behind double doors and the only people that have access to this phone are doctors, nurses, patients, and staff on that floor.

"The event was screened by Sgt. Visaya and the device was placed into evidence. I advised complainant that it would be a good idea to do a security sweep of the phones in the hospital and left him with a business card."
