After the Witching Hour

The Twin Sisters and Two Suspects/West Seattle/Mon Jan 5/12:07 am: "The victims Yvonne and Yvette are twin sisters," reports Officer XX. "At the time of this incident, Yvette had been visiting her sister in West Seattle. Just before midnight, both sisters walked to the South Seattle Market, a small convenience store on the NE corner of 35th Ave SW and SW Morgan St.... Just past midnight, both sisters left the store and headed back to Yvonne's home. As they walked eastbound on SW Morgan St (on the south sidewalk), past 34th Ave SW, they observed a small dark sedan drive up and park in the 6500 block of 34th Ave SW. The vehicle, with three to four occupants, faced southbound on the wrong side (east side) of the roadway. The two sisters continued walking, with Yvonne several steps ahead of Yvette. All of a sudden, Suspect 1 ran up to Yvonne and said, 'Give me your damn money!'

"'What are you talking about?' asked Yvonne. At this point, Suspect 1 pulled out a black/silver handgun from the front of his waistband and pointed it at Yvonne. 'If you don't give me your money, I'm gonna' cap you,' threatened Suspect 1 and he pushed Yvonne, causing her to fall onto the sidewalk. When Yvette went to help her sister, Suspect 1 pointed the gun at her also and said, 'Get the fuck away!' Yvonne started to get up off the ground and was punched on the right side of her face by Suspect 1. Yvonne fell on the ground again.

"At about the same time, both sisters heard someone yelling for Suspect 1 to get back in the car. They turned and saw the vehicle's driver (Suspect 2) standing outside the driver-side door, motioning for Suspect 1 to return. As Suspect 1 ran (westbound) back to the car, both sisters fled eastbound. They heard the car drive off, possibly southbound.

"Yvonne called 911 from her home. Upon my arrival, Yvonne gave me the above account. She was noticeably upset and was massaging her cheek. Yvonne declined immediate medical attention."

The Growing Shrine/Downtown/Sat Jan 24/12:59 am: I'm almost 100 percent sure that this report will afford you the same boundless pleasure that it afforded me upon reading it. "At about 12:59," writes Officer Johnson, "officers were dispatched to a report of 20 to 25 juveniles throwing debris off the South Albro Place overpass onto southbound Interstate 5. Officers arrived and were greeted with untrue and uneducated accusations of the police having thrown a carjacking suspect off the overpass. Due to the danger of persons throwing debris onto the freeway, all in attendance were asked to leave. While walking away, numerous of the at least 15- or 20-person group started swearing at the officers present. The group had been standing next to a growing shrine, which included an ever-growing supply of empty beer bottles. This group could have easily used the bottles as weapons. At least nine officers responded to the location and it took all of us to stand by as the group was escorted from the overpass."
