Globalization and Mass Transportation/Metro Transit/Sun Sept 12/8:34 pm: Officer Meyers reports: "Both suspects were riding on a bus. Suspect One [Asian female, in her late 30s] began the disturbance by commenting to Suspect Two [Asian female, in her early 30s] that she was taking too much space (The bus was less than half full) with her bag (two seats). Suspect Two responded by yelling loudly that Suspect One had no mother and that she wasn't a citizen. Both then began trading racial insults. Apparently Suspect One is Vietnamese and Suspect Two is Cambodian. The driver stopped the bus, turned, and saw the Cambodian woman get out of her seat and swing her backpack at the Vietnamese woman. The Vietnamese suspect fell to the ground. The bus driver evacuated all the passengers from the bus and called the police...

"When I arrived at the scene, I boarded the bus and found Suspect Two [the Cambodian] seated with her bag on the seat next to her. I asked her step off the bus and she was immediately combative and hostile. She had to be physically escorted off the bus so the driver could continue bus service. Suspect One [the Vietnamese], however, suffered a generalized injury to her neck and back, and had to be transported by ambulance to Harborview for medical treatment. Suspect One also has a warrant for her arrest from Seattle Municipal Court for a similar offence from May 16, 2002--unlawful conduct on a bus. Suspect Two was booked into King County Jail for her part in the disturbance. She continued to scream and yell right up to her booking. The arrest was screened by Sgt. Ferguson."

Prime Suspect/Westlake/Sun September 19/During The Night: Officer James Pitts writes: "The victim, who is a doctor [and who in this report will be called Herr Doktor], said that only two backpacks were missing from his clinic. The burglar apparently cut his hand at one point during the robbery and pulled out a length of moisturized tissues from the dispenser. The suspect wiped blood from his hand and tossed the tissue into the trash. I recovered the tissue as evidence. There was a blood smear on the wooden drawer pull, but no prints showed in the smear. Various receipts were scattered around the floor. There were no drugs in the office, nor a cash box. The front outside doors were locked when Herr Doktor arrived at his practice at 8:00 a.m., and had presumably been locked all night before his arrival. There was no indication of forced entry on the outside doors.

"While I was investigating the burglary, Herr Doktor told me that there was a vagrant-looking man loitering near the front door. I went down and found the man lurking on the dock behind the building. [The waters of the lake were dark and cold.] The [vagrant-looking] man had no rational reason for being near the scene of the crime. He had a wild story about a boat office helping him with a fax and phone calls. When I pressed him he couldn't remember which office had helped him. This man is a prime suspect, but I could find no cuts on his hands."
