Eve in the Closet/Rainier Valley/Sat July 23/4:15 pm: A fragment from report #05-309800: "I could hear loud music coming from inside the apartment. No one answered the door. I knocked on the door at least two more times and again no one came to the door. I tried the door handle and it was unlocked. I opened the door and yelled inside, 'Seattle Police Department!' No one answered. We entered the residence to make sure the tenants were okay. Officer Mullens turned the music off. I again yelled and identified ourselves. We secured the living room and kitchen. I entered the bedroom and saw a naked female standing in the closet. I asked her if there was anyone else in the house. She said she did not know. I asked her to get some clothes on. She did. She told me she didn't need us for anything. I told her the neighbors had called about a naked woman yelling for help. She said it was not her. She said nothing happened. She would not give me any other information."

The Miner/Downtown/Sat July 23/5:45 pm: A fragment from report #05-309935: "Pakistanis are loading up cases of dynamite into the building between McDonald's and Century Square. I know they are cases of dynamite because I once worked in the mining field."

Metallic Clunk/Central District/Sat July 23/10:55 pm: A fragment from report #05-308939: "At the start of my shift, I had searched the back seat of my patrol vehicle, as I do at the beginning of every shift. I did not find anything in the back of my patrol vehicle. While the suspect was in the back seat of my patrol car, I observed him moving around and heard a loud metallic clunk noise from the back seat of the vehicle. I stopped and opened the driver's side rear door of my patrol vehicle, where the suspect was sitting, and observed a set of metal knuckles lying by his feet in plain view. The brass knuckles were not there at the start of my shift. I checked. And no one had been in my patrol vehicle since the start of my shift."

Next to Nothing/Central District/Sun July 24/12:05 am: A fragment from report #05-298435: "I believed the car was stolen and I told him why. He waived his rights and agreed to talk. He stated he met a man who was on 'hard times' and 'got the car for next to nothing.' He stated he knew the car was 'probably' stolen but he bought it anyway. I sent the car's VIN number to DOL, and the VIN number returned with an SPD stolen hit. The suspect then admitted that he had not bought the car. The car was stolen and he had sold parts of the car to an auto shop. He needed the money for drugs. 'What did you get for the air bag?,' I asked. 'Not shit!,' he replied. He then stated: 'There were two other guys with me. We worked to get the air bag removed. It wasn't easy work and my share was less than I had hoped for.' At the time of the arrest, the suspect was wearing a white T-shirt and denim pants."
