Texan madman Dirk Fowler (www.f2-design.com) has both feet firmly rooted in the old traditions of poster printing, using vintage metal foundry type to hand-set trays that are run through a Vandercook No. 1 press. But he goes beyond that aesthetic by hand-cutting unique images and display type (into wood or linoleum), which get set in the trays and hand-inked. This poster for Neumo's has such a gorgeous ink texture, which can't be accomplished through screen-printing or any modern four-color method. The good stuff takes time.
