Brian Goedert at Tape Design (www.thisistape.com) has been one of my favorite local designers since Minty Magazine came and went early in the decade. His CD and poster designs are always lean, purposeful, and focused—and can often be identified by his trademark use of silhouettes, expansive white space, and the font Trade Gothic Condensed. He's done powerful work for Amy Legendre, Freehold, Chop Suey, and numerous bands. This poster is exceptional for all the obvious reasons, but it makes my pants tight because of something not-so-obvious: The shape of the woman is printed in a copper color, and overlaying her entire form (including the white gap) is a reflective varnish, giving continuity and sheen to her presence. This shit ain't cheap—somebody decided it was worth it, and I believe him.
