Taylor is a scientist, conservationist, and photojournalist who documents the hair-raising expeditions of "extreme scientists"--those data-chasing cadres of brave brainiacs vaulting into the cores of volcanoes and suspending from bridge undergirdings to save peregrine falcon chicks, in search of valuable information. These folks are the saints of the modern age, and Taylor has captured their exploits in his new book, Science at the Extreme: Scientists on the Cutting Edge of Discovery.
