⢠A 32-year-old Seattle man was arrested on suspicion of malicious harassment after allegedly posting derogatory and threatening comments to the Facebook pages of Seattle mayor Ed Murray and city council member Kshama Sawant. "Mayor return to hell where you came from," "death to socialist council member," and "feminist must get raped and die" were apparently some of the milder comments, Seattlepi.com reported last week. A source at city hall says that comments referencing the 1978 assassination of Harvey Milk, San Francisco's first openly gay elected official, were the deciding factor in pressing charges.
⢠After six weeks of matter-of-fact updates, the Washington State Department of Transportation took a new tack for explaining why the tunneling machine for its $4.2 billion megaproject was stuck under downtown Seattle. "When you're sick, you go to the doctor," began a cutesy blog post on the state's website that made a bizarre, drawn-out comparison between the giant drill and someone who's ill. "Based on your symptoms, the doctor checks for obvious clues about what might be ailing you." This is a terrible analogy, if for no other reason than sometimes patients with mystery illnesses drop dead. The state went on to say it's "going hyperbaric"âwhich involves sending divers into a pressurized bubble in front of the machine for more explorationâwhich only underscores the fact that they still have no idea what the problem is.
⢠Several people noticed that Seattle City Council members Sally Clark, Bruce Harrell, Mike O'Brien, and Kshama Sawant showed up at the city's annual MLK Day March, which drew hundreds, maybe thousandsâit went on for blocks. The rest of the council was MIA for MLK.

About 750 people were packed into the nightclub when someone poured gasoline on the stairs and set the area ablaze, police say.
