SHAMELESS SOCIAL

This week, we shall veer so recklessly from the usual beaten path that we might just as well plunge right the fuck off the edge of it. To wit, we are going to utterly ignore all of our more familiar boozy messes (Comeback is happening on Friday, but IGNORE THAT, for example) and intrepidly explore some other surprising and peculiar boozy messes in wondrous and tragically underexplored elsewheres. (Why? BECAUSE is why.) We begin with the SHAMELESS SOCIAL. This thing called "Shameless," if you don't know, is a cabal of serious DJ talent, established in 2003, that is dedicated to the mystic art of making you freak out and dance like a total spaz all night. It is composed of names you will recognize, like the DJs Recess, Adlib, MC Anton Bomb, and Robb Green—and some, if not most, of them will be spinning 'til 4 a.m. (That's what these people mean by "social.") It all happens in the strange shadows of the Electric Tea Garden—a quirky, tucked-away jewel of a performance space, gallery, and, um, "infusion lounge," (intriguing!) which just coincidentally turned 2 last night (happy birthday!). You will be expected to dance. Electric Tea Garden, 10 pm, $10, 21+.

LISA KOCH'S BIRTHDAY BASH

While we're on the subject of birthdays (were we?), our next peculiar thing celebrates the blessed nativity of a beloved Seattle singer, raconteur, and world-famous funnypants, Lisa Koch. This is the fifth annual Lisa Koch Birthday Bash, which is less like a birthday party and more like a big show that you pay to get into. It is billed as an evening of comedy, music, and improv, and she hauls in talented showbizzy friends from all over the place for it, like glamorous Hollywood! (Okay, LA, same damn thing.) And, of course, her hilarious Dos Fallopia partner, Peggy Platt, is scheduled to appear, too, which is awesome. Lisa with no Peggy would be like "F" with no "unny." Triple Door, 7 pm, $18 adv/$20 DOS, all ages.
