FRONT OF BOOK Letters: Didn't read.... Last Days: In a word: splendid.... NEWS Two pieces on the monorail, and yet another attack on another Seattle newspaper. The result: a shuddering yawn sure to be felt by every Stranger reader (the few that there are).... SHORT FEATURE Just one week after Sean Nelson penned a rather disastrous short feature on the Washington, D.C. subway system, he turns around and produces a smart, insightful, and beautifully written piece on the bombings in Bali. Such an occurrence definitely brings the words "scattershot excellence" to mind.... FEATURE Absolute tripe, unworthy reading.... FILM Having Scotty Crane pen a "review" of the film that was based on his father's life reeks more of a stunt than actual criticism.... BOOKS Skimmed.... ART Skimmed as well.... THEATER Another smart (albeit short) piece by Sean Nelson, making one assume winter coats are currently being handed out in hell.... CHOW Didn't read.... MUSIC (Note to Jennifer Maerz: As I am an independent body from The Stranger, your complaints to me regarding my reviews of your section land on absolutely deaf ears. Please stop wasting your time by writing to me.).... ETC. It's My Party: Didn't read.... Celeb I Saw U: Too gay.... I Love TV: Also too gay.... Savage Love: For the second week in a row, Savage has been unable to offer his readers substantial advice due to his being (a) in transit on his book tour, and (b) intoxicated with various medications. This, of course, begs the question: Why do so many people trust him for advice, when he obviously can neither do his job nor remain sober with any consistency?.... Obits: Didn't read.
