June 12, 2003 · VOL. 12, NO. 39FRONT OF BOOK Letters: Mostly kind words from readers this week. Is it any wonder that the letters section is a full page?... Last Days: Genius.... NEWS As much as it pains me to write this, the paper's news section is fairly readable this week, specifically Josh Feit and Erica C. Barnett's lead article.... SHORT FEATURE Didn't read.... FEATURE Long, but somewhat engaging.... THEATER Didn't read.... BOOKS Also didn't read.... ART Dirty, but well written.... FOOD A mammoth special section devoted to outdoor eating. Can a slew of new restaurant advertisements be far behind?... MUSIC Decent, even occasionally witty.... FILM Here is how the film section's first page breaks down: (1) a pathetic, barely readable lead by Bradley Steinbacher; (2) a short, impenetrable rant by Charles Mudede; and (3) Sean Nelson's column (see below). With this "stellar" lineup, is it any wonder the Seattle film community despises The Stranger?... ETC. Nightstand: (See Erasing Hours).... It's My Party: Evidently this column is now called "Some Candy Talking." So... Some Candy Talking: Didn't read.... Live Wire: Didn't read.... Erasing Hours: The biggest waste of space in the entire paper. (Second place: Nightstand by Christopher Frizzelle).... Savage Love: Mr. Savage offers the results of his offensive, pathetic "Santorum" column. The question is this: Does anyone care?... I Love TV: Didn't read.... Control Tower: Didn't read.... Celebrity I Saw U: Too gay....
